Great perspective. Your take on film and cultural, impact on our community, definitely leads one to ponder more deeply about the project as a whole. The film ran 125 minutes, but seemed shorter. Leading my Son to ask, "Did they do anything for the soldiers when they got home?" Thus opening up another discussion. And another thought process.... (Mr. Star Wars is king of sequels/prequels, so maybe more to come... At least, a new take on Buffalo Soldiers)
It was great to see a packed stadium for the after
dinner showing at Paradiso on Saturday. And
shout out to the crowd for keeping side bar
comments to minimum.

All in all great cinematic experience and good thought provoking commentary.

(David Banner stated we should be thankful for Lucas bringing film to us, I prefer appreciative)

The dogfights are fun but everything else is filled with corniness, lame acting, predictable story arc, and moments where the film feels like a video-game rather than based on a true story. A great story to be told, but told in a very poor way. Good review right here though. Give mine a look when you get the chance.

Nate Parker IS Denzel 2.0... We LOVE him!! I liked the realistic portrayal of the men, some faithful, some leaning on crutches, but all very very skilled at their vocations, and taking the utmost pride in their work. Despite the politics around the film, film-maker and discussion in the "community" the film was a quality piece of work, depicting an exciting breakthrough in African American history. I would have seen it, no matter who produced it. Having said that, I also know that it is up to the Black community to demand MORE than shucking and jiving, men in dresses and pimping, hustling and dope dealing. Until we support independent film makers, seek out quality drama, musicals, and comedies that portray the myriad of Black experiences, we will continue to be at the mercy of "hollywood". Great Post, thanks!!!
